The aratools-core repo now has auto-generated API documentation under src.
The documentation is generated using the pdoc3 package that uses Google style doc-strings. For the time being "non-public" doc-strings still uses the restructured-text format, but this will be cleaned up over time. Hopefully there's not too much confusion in the meantime :)
